The juicing trend swept into Downtown Vegas on Wednesday when the new Grass Roots opened in the former John E Carson Hotel. Look for whole food juices, smoothies, soups, whole food bowls and of course a balance struck with ice creams made-to-order.
Shane Stuart, who worked on recipes for Vitamix and Greens & Proteins, and Nichole Hester created this healthy stop through the Downtown Project. The duo sources their produce at Downtown 3rd Farmer's Market and local farms.
Aside from prerequisite healthy fair, also find grab-and-go items that include a "living" assortment of vegan, dairy free and soy and gluten-free packaged salads, wraps and desserts from Vegas-based Raw Makery.
Prices range from $4.95 for ice cream to $11.95 for whole food bowls.
Five to seven superfoods can be added to any whole food smoothie or juice. Look for the Holy Grail of Greens made with kale, fennel, sunflower microgreens, tangerine, broccoli microgreens, ginger, green cabbage, turmeric, wheatgrass, green grapes, green apple, coconut palm sugar, sorrel and lemon and The Original Veggieccino with nut milk, avocado, cacao, coffee beans, dates, spinach, cabbage, Himalayan salt, coconut palm sugar, carrot and vanilla.
Grass Roots is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
