After a long and careful decision process, McCarran International Airport has decided on the five new retailers heading to gates C and D. And all of the applicants had to be bonafide Las Vegas locals. There were 37 proposals from 24 firms and the process included specific criteria covering variety of proposed goods, price point and whether the stores inventory was strong enough to create an impulse sale from harried travelers.
First up at the C Gates is TAGS Evolution, jewelry and accessory retailer, who were chosen for their frequently changing inventory and being the only jewelery store in that section of the airport. TAGS offers blinged out handbags, watches and costume pieces. They also recently debuted at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
Over by Gate C19 will be Tasty Image, a candy company that will place your photo or logo onto chocolate in less than three minutes.
The remaining three retailers are located at the D Gates. The BLVD, a Las Vegas-themed souvenir store, will be located near Gate D50.
Opening a kiosk rather than a full store, will be Glow! on the Go a skin care, creams and lotion company created by a local doctor very familiar with dryness issues presented by a desert climate.
And the one familiar name on the list, Sugar Factory, has already launched their kiosk at the airport, serving up wrapped candy with celebrity packaging and branded apparel including Hello Kitty pieces. Sugar Factory launched a similar set up at Denver International Airport earlier this month. And local rumor has the company soon moving a kiosk into the Fashion Show mall on the Strip.
