Zippo Plans To Light Up The Strip Starting in May

Light 'em if you got 'em. Zippo Manufacturing Co. will launch its first U.S.-based retail stores next month two resorts on the Strip. The Luxor lands the first Zippo store in early May and then the MGM Grand joins the fray in late summer.

Zippo has been toying with the idea of entering the casino market, saying their lighters in the "luck and gambling category are perennial best sellers." The company already has 14 concept store locations in China.

Expect to find custom designs and exclusives in the new stores. Zippo plans to feature the bulk of its expanding product line at the inaugural Luxor and MGM Grand retail stores, including windproof lighters and lighter products, apparel, bags, fragrances and small leather goods.

The Luxor and MGM Grand locations are the first of three stores planned to open in Las Vegas in the coming year.
