Paint Your Own Stories Inside the New REDValentino

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Meet the new REDValentino, a 2,700-square-foot boutique at the Forum Shops at Caesars. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative directors of Maison Valentino, created the look of this ephemeral space, a succession of three rooms interacting in a surreal way.

Here a warm, antique home is contradicted by contemporary lighting, emphasizing the texture of the white capitonne walls and other metal details. Find surprises within, such as a paper garden beyond the hidden door of the armoire in the first room and the trompe l'oeil of the third room that envelops the visitor in an ephemeral landscape like a surreal Toile de Jouy.

The entire package is wrapped in a bright white theme, described as a blank page upon which all are invited to tell their own tales with clothes, to describe their own dreams.

There are currently only three other REDValentino free-standing boutiques in the United States in Costa Mesa, San Francisco and Aventura.
