Take that, Kanye. While Yeezy may consider the products Zappos sells sh*t, now the online retailer based here in Vegas has brought on former Vogue editor-at-large André Leon Talley to oversee editorial content on the Zappos Couture site, set to debut on Jan. 22. Look for fashion shoots, videos and trend picks from the fashion icon.
This one one-year partnership with Zappos means big announcements from vendors such as Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Lanvin, Cartier and Dolce & Gabbana who have signed on with Zappos. So far, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and Salvatore Ferragamo make up the biggest couture brands on the site.
So far, Zappos Couture site has a weekly video feature called The Trend, with red-carpet interviews with designers and celebrities hosted by Victoria Recaño.
In October, rapper Kanye West toured Downtown Vegas with Zappos head honcho Tony Hsieh and had some choice words for the site. "I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos that he's trying to tell me what I need to focus on. Meanwhile, he sells all this sh*t product to everybody, his whole thing is based off of selling sh*t product," West says.
