Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

One of the many awesome benefits of having Barneys New York right here in Las Vegas is the frequent visits by creative ambassador-at-large Simon Doonan. He returns to Barneys at the Grand Canal Shoppes on Oct. 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. with a book signing for his new memoir, The Asylum — A collage of couture reminiscences...and hysteria.

Those not familiar with Doonan's style should know that he's kind of like David Sedaris, but for the fashionable set. Doonan writes about models who won't work because they're afraid of ghosts, the time when Vogue editor Anna Wintour's bob didn't flicker when the roof fell in during Fashion Week and spent some time deep-sea fishing with a couturier and his criminal friend. Fun stuff.

Everyone gets a signed copy, but do be sure to RSVP at simonlv@barneys.com.
