Forget New York Fashion Week. The real fashions hit the runways next week when the massive MAGIC Market Week comes to town. This trade show and its counterparts are so big that the conventions take over the Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Liberty, Capsule and Agenda all take place at the Sands Convention Center. All told, 80,000 are expected to attend the events that stretch from Monday to Thursday.
WWDMAGIC features women's apparel and accessories across all categories. FNPlatform and WSA at MAGIC concentrate on footwear. Sourcing at MAGIC is even more insider, meant for brands and designers to find new resources. All three take over the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Over at Mandalay Bay, find Project with its focus on men's and women's advanced contemporary, premium denim and designer collections. The Tents at Project is even more high end, with women's and men's designer and luxury brands. ENK is another high-end event with a juried collection of brands. Pool Tradeshow is more boutique, while MVMNT skews a bit younger, covering the skate and street fashions.
Here's a look at what seven things to expect during the show:
1. Shark Tank Casting
ABC's television series, Shark Tank, is continuing the search for the best entrepreneurs with the best businesses and products that America has to offer. WWDMAGIC is providing exhibitors an opportunity to meet with the producers of Shark Tank and pitch their businesses to further propel it forward.
2. Emerging Designer Showcase
WWDMAGIC's Emerging Designer Showcase features 14 talented designers, who will showcase their current collections. Look for fashion prodigy, 12-year-old Isabella Rose Taylor, vintage jewelry designer Joi French, edgy Toy Syndrome and easy-to-wear Nameless USA.
