February through March is known as proposal season in the wedding business, and that means a bevy of couples will be asking the big question. Last year, an estimated 6 million people were planning or expected a proposal on Valentine's Day.

This two-part online resource offers up tips for the perfect way to pop the question along with advice on selecting the ring, including the right stones, settings, colors, sizes and more.
For a romantic proposal, invite her to a stylish hotel bar and as the night winds up, tell her you have a room there for the night. Have the room stocked with rose petals, candles and champagne.
Go funny by creating a custom fortune cookie with your proposal tucked inside or stand outside her house with a boom box blaring a la the movie Say Anything to announce your proposal.
The adventurous will want to rent a scooter with the ring stowed inside the helmet. After you propose, ride around town to celebrate your engagement.
The digitally inclined may want to create a playlist of favorite songs with your proposal recorded at the end or take a picture of yourself with the ring and make it her desktop background image.
Not all suggested proposals are so elaborate. The more traditional may want to plan a romantic lunch in the park or simply replace her everyday ring in her jewelry box with an engagement ring.
